Artist Makhno Mata Guido is a self taught painter who devours all information he can about ancient techniques and methods. His main inspiration comes from deep meditation about nature and the act of contemplation.
"These works are about what happens when you give time to nature to unveil its secrets, life now is going too fast and too plastic, even what and how we eat is fast and plastic, we need as a civilization to take it a little slower and pay attention to the small things that can make us happy again, for those who knows, even watching a rock for a prolongued period of time can be a mesmerizing experience, the reflection of sunlight rays throught it!
This art is for another time, a time when we wont be worrying about ecological issues or wars,but right now those issues are far more important than any art, thus i've decided to give my grain of salt by selling my beloved masterpieces to the organic garden cause, we want it to be spread and to conquer".
We have started to build an agro-ecological school called Finca Ecológica Verde Esmeralda where eventually visitors could be taught to grow their vegetables free of agrochemicals with the Biointensive method (as developed over 43 years by Ecology Action of Willits California). Our goal is to raise awareness on food and soil health and ultimately to teach farmers from rural areas across all Central America how to grow their own food without the use of agrochemicals as well as genetically modified seeds and to do so in a far smaller space than conventional agricultural practices, using less water, energy, and input (organic fertilizer) resources. The result will be less deforestation which is the common factor of the expansive agricultural practices that currently predominate in Costa Rica and around the globe. Costa Rica itself is one of the planet’s biggest agrochemical users, and this is in part due to the government’s ignorance and apathy around the practices employed by big companies that rely on taking advantage of the poor and largely uneducated people in the country’s rural areas.
In an effort to contribute to this project, painter Makhno Mata is selling his incredible paintings through this website, all of his paintings were made using traditional methods including hand grinding paint with the best quality oil, pigments and materials; every painting sold here is guaranteed for life. The revenues brought in by this project will be used to build the infrastructure of the research and demonstration farm; including rooms for volunteers & visitors, and purchasing the simple hand tools required for this simple; yet sophisticated, farming method. The only reason why Makhno is willing to part with his masterpieces is to contribute to the project which he believes in as much as we do. He has a full catalogue of his works for anyone interested (a physical booklet).
